Could your practice, employer or association help support your participation?

Developing your leadership benefits more than you alone. The skills you build can strengthen communication, support healthier teams, improve collaboration and help move meaningful change forward.

That makes leadership development a conversation worth having with the people or organizations you work with.

Funding isn’t guaranteed, but you may have more options than you think.

Where to Start

Your midwifery practice
Ask whether your practice could contribute towards the program through professional development funds or a shared investment in leadership capacity. Connect your request to a practice priority, such as team communication, mentoring, accountability or leading change.

Your employer or organization
If you work within a hospital, health authority, educational institution or another organization, ask about professional development, continuing education or leadership development funding. Your manager, department lead or human resources team may be able to direct you to available support.

Your professional association
Check whether your provincial, territorial or national association offers professional development bursaries, education funds or information about external funding opportunities. Eligibility, availability and application timelines will vary.

Ontario midwives: The Association of Ontario Midwives has confirmed that The Confident Midwife Leader meets its PD Fund eligibility criteria. Eligible midwives can use PD funding towards the program. Contact the AOM to confirm the amount available to you, application requirements and deadlines.

A combination of support
Funding doesn’t have to cover the entire fee to make a difference. A partial contribution, protected learning time or an adjustment to your work schedule could help make participation possible.

Make a Clear Request

A strong funding request connects your development to something that matters in your workplace.

Consider:

  • What leadership responsibilities do you have now, or hope to take on?

  • What challenge could you address more effectively with stronger leadership skills?

  • How could your participation benefit colleagues, your team or the people you serve?

  • What support are you requesting: full funding, a contribution, protected time or a combination?

The program includes a Leadership Impact Project, giving you an opportunity to apply your learning to a meaningful initiative or challenge in your own professional setting. This can help connect your request to a practical benefit.

The program fee is $3,800 CAD. I’m requesting [full funding / a contribution of $___ / protected time to attend / a combination of financial support and learning time].

Learning Labs and Coaching Circles take place on scheduled Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time, with no Labs or Circles in July or August. A closing virtual Summit takes place on February 24, 2028.
